Nixon: 39 Years Later - $18 Billion Underwater

Candice got this one right.  Well, partially right, up until she decided it's smart to start blathering for a Federal catastrophic fund to 'fleece'  e-v-e-r-y-o-n-e  into gummint subsidy.

Yessirree, it was Richard "I Never Met A Big Government Program That I Didn't Like" Nixon who mandated National Flood Insurance in 1973, further entangling folks to bureaucracy created floodplain schemes if you'd like a mortgage.

So, who were the Michigan Republicans that kicked the fleecing can down the road?  Benishek, Camp, Huizenga, McCotter, Rogers, Upton, and Walberg voting in lockstep with nanny government entitlement Democrats Clarke, Conyers, Dingell, Kildee, Levin, and Peters.

And they still get their nose all out of joint with wondering why they end up in places like here?  Go figure.

Anywho, a 'shout out' thanks to Representative Amash, for the much appreciated consistency.  Candice, nice try, but thanks for your NO vote anyway.

Our new place is next to a lake that is spring fed and empties into another lake which is controlled by a damn.  Somehow the gummint decided we were on a flood plain... even though there has never been a flood here and even though the water level barely rose when we had the wettest spring in 117 years last year.

So, their mandated "protection" costs us $600 per year.

    Congress...

    Powers and duties...

    • Power to lay and collect taxes.

    • To borrow money...

    • Regulate commerce with foreign nations (so much for the guv's end-run NITC/DRIC/Gordie Howe Bridge strategy!)...

    • Uniform Rule of Naturalization...

    • To coin money...

    • To provide for punishment of counterfeiting...

    • To establish Post Offices and post roads...

    • To Promote the progress of science...

    • To constitute tribunals inferior to Supreme Court...

    • To define and punish Piracies and felonies committed on the high seas...

    • To declare war...

    • To raise & support Armies...

    • To provide and maintain a Navy...

    • To make rules for gov't and regulation of land and naval forces...

    • To provide for calling forth the Militia...

    • To provide for organizing, arming and disciplining the Militia...

    • To exercise exclusive Legislation of all cases of the seat of government...

    • To make all laws which shall be necessary and proper for the execution of the foregoing powers...

    Nope!

I don't see a thing that is even remotely related to mandating citizens obtain flood insurance.

The above clip is pretty much the same spiel that she used on Beckmann's show yesterday morning.

And she was doing so well until the part where she suggested that Michigan opted out (12:50) and provided flood insurance on its own.
