"Freedom Fund" mouthpiece Greg McNeilly, known for his dislike of conservatives and Constitutionalists, has now tied himself and his Dick Devos funded organization to being anti-transparency.

In doing so he has laid bare a probability only hinted at just yesterday.

"Oh, and as for Ruth in 2014?  They ask the question:
"Will Ruth Johnson pay a political price for her stance on disclosure? To seek reelection, she has to be nominated next year at a Republican convention. How will GOP delegates respond to this sort of renegade behavior?"
If ANY Republican elites even suggested such a move, She would be well served to take her momentum that much more forward and shoot for Guv, where Mr 36% is extremely vulnerable.
Way to step the game up Mr. "Freedom" Flunky.

Today's message is straight forward WAR.

"But if big-government extremists in Lansing, like Secretary of State Ruth Johnson, have their way, issue advertisements like the Federalist Papers would be illegal in the state of Michigan."
You might want to walk that back a bit Mr McNeilly. Perhaps start understanding that your entire educational effort would likely be dwarfed by the fourth graders of that period.

They were a little smarter than you then.

Going further and quoting a leftist?

"Even far-left Supreme Court Justice John Paul Stevens noted: "Anonymity is a shield from the tyranny of the majority." This is not a left and right issue; this is an American issue.

Defending minorities from the tyranny of a majority is the point of our Bill of Rights and an important responsibility for those who support social justice and personal liberty."

Hello progressive left language in the Republican Party brought to you courtesy of the "Freedom Fund."

the full letter below the fold.

    Friend,

America's most famous issue ads are The Federalist Papers and Anti-Federalist Papers.  These issue ads argued for and against our young nation's proposed Constitution and the ensuing vote that was required to adopt it.

In less than a year, 85 of the pro-Constitution issue ads were published.  Each of them was broadcast anonymously with their authors discovered only decades later.

Anonymous political speech is a vital American tradition and a civil right.

But if big-government extremists in Lansing, like Secretary of State Ruth Johnson, have their way, issue advertisements like the Federalist Papers would be illegal in the state of Michigan.

Even far-left Supreme Court Justice John Paul Stevens noted: "Anonymity is a shield from the tyranny of the majority."1 This is not a left and right issue; this is an American issue.

Defending minorities from the tyranny of a majority is the point of our Bill of Rights and an important responsibility for those who support social justice and personal liberty.

Unfortunately, career politicians in Lansing often fail to take liberty seriously, and some have now hatched a scheme to take-away your freedoms.  Last week, union-backed special interests colluded with Secretary Johnson to ban issue ads like the Federalist Papers.

Courageous policy makers in the state Senate took action to stop this abuse of power.  But the fight to protect our freedoms is far from finished.

Big-government extremists have longed for decades for an opportunity to create political "hit lists" for retribution.  Under Secretary Johnson's dangerous proposal, they would have their crosshairs finely tuned.

Bigger government proponents want to require the names of every donor to be kept on a government list for review.  This always has a chilling impact upon the exercise of free speech.

In a recent Supreme Court case, Justice Clarence Thomas wrote: "Disclaimer and disclosure requirements enable elected officials to implement political strategies specifically calculated to curtail campaign-related activity and prevent the lawful, peaceful exercise of First Amendment rights."2 You deserve better.

We need your help to protect free speech in Michigan.

Please talk with your state Representative and state Senator about protecting free speech and stopping this dangerous assault on issue advertisements like the Federalist Papers.

You can access easy to find contact information for your lawmakers here and here.

Where Dickie 'ol Boy's pay-rolled toadie failed at buying off state legislators, I'm rather confident his Farce Fund will fall on equally deaf ears with Unapologetic Conservatives who have had enough of some billionaire's shadow crony politics.

    Ps. Go f#@% yourself, Greg.
