    Welcome to Scoop!

To help you figure things out, there is a Scoop Admin Guide which can hopefully answer most of your questions.

    Some tips:

    • Most of the layout is changed in "Blocks", found in the admin tools menu
    • Features can be turned on and off, and configured, in "Site Controls" in the admin tools menu
    • Stories have an "edit" link right beside the "Full Story" link on an index page, and right beside the "Post a Comment" link on the full story page. They can also be edited by clicking the story title in the "Story List" admin tool
    • Boxes are what allow you to write new features for Scoop; they require a knowledge of the perl programming language to work with effectively, although you can often make small changes without knowing much perl. If you would like a feature added but cannot program it yourself, ScoopHost does custom Scoop programming as one of its services.
    • If you aren't sure where to look for a particular feature or piece of display, try the "Search Admin Tools" link in the admin tools menu.

I have several video segments from an event on the island with candidates in a fundraiser.

The Madison PAC, and Jack Hoogendyk are seeking REAL Republicans for legislative positions, and much like our $100 project are supportive of primary efforts that bring conservative values into play.

The Second in the series is Lana Theis running for the 42nd district house seat.

    More to follow.

    The Pig Needs Botox

John Yob may have a problem on his hands.

As strategic National (Yob's political consulting firm) looks forward to 2014 and an expected continued representation of Rick Snyder's campaign efforts, he will have to overcome one particular obstacle; The governor himself.  Perhaps even the governor's staff and surrogates.  As brilliant as some of those operatives within Strategic National might be, the 'pig' that is the governor's reelection chance might be far too gone for lipstick and a little rouge.

Especially given yesterdays grass roots announcement and letter.  The announcement was picked up by all of the state papers, and has gathered attention even nationwide. However, Snyder's mouthpiece Sara Wurfel says:

"As an (accountant), Gov. Snyder knows there's a strong case that this Medicaid component is the financially responsible and smart thing to do while also being the right thing to do, both short- and long-term for Michiganders and our state's economy and health status,"
    As an accountant?

Think along the lines of the Congressional Budget Office(CBO).  IF, given all the input it was supposed to have had before offering an opinion to congress on the ACA in the first place, it might not have offered such a rosy picture of the plan's finances to that congress.  Adding the 'unforeseen' costs (we saw them and said so - but ..) that have made it already unworkable, we can do little but laugh at his 'accounting' skills. There are always costs which are held off the books till it is too late to do anything about the overall plan.  One of the conservative activists Jeri Leroi who is on the list in opposition, makes a valid point today in one of her email broadcasts:

"Keep in mind, in the past the federal government has robbed the Medicare budget to pay for the increase in medicaid.   Medicare recipients have paid into the medicare program for over 40 year before receiving any benefits at all.  We pay a co pay and extra premiums for hospital care which are also scheduled to go up under Obamacare.  The Medicaid recipients have not paid into this program, whole families have stayed on it for life.
    She has a point.

She also influences many within our community.

And HERE is where some accounting background might help the governor's team understand the predicament at hand. ~ Below the fold.

    End Of the MiGOP?

Tomorrow's affair may be the last straw

There is no argument about what pulled together in 2010, the activism necessary to regain majorities in all levels of government.  It was the general repudiation of Obama policies, and in particular; Obamacare, the top down unconstitutional mandate that we purchase something for the privilege of being a US citizen. Citizens already incensed by GW bush's overreach and bailout of banking that should have been allowed to fail, found the agenda of Obama, and the passage of Obamacare particularly motivating to remove the usurpers or any supporters of them from power.

In Michigan such constitutional stalwarts as Dan Benishek, Dave Camp and a number of other Republicans pledged to remove funding, and doom the takeover of medicine from the lack of operability as a means of last resort if turning over the legislation directly proved impossible.  Dave Camp for his part said so in front of 50+ in the summer of 2010, a fact that could be verified by any of them, and a current staffer of Benishek's who worked for the Ways and Means chair at that time as well.

Yet only a few days ago, a continuing resolution, funding 98% of the planned spending until September 27th was passed.

No measure has been discussed from those who in 2010 promised us repeal in SOME form. No line crossed has triggered an absolute response from the Republican controlled congress. In fact, NOTHING but excuses have been the standard talking points as we watched this president make a mockery of the message these men were sent to deliver. And now we must worry about whether 7 or 8 Republicans in the Michigan State Senate will vote for Our state's capitulation to this unacceptable overreach into  our most personal health choices?

If the lesson of millions of conservatives who sat on their hands in the 2012 presidential contest is ignored, We are in trouble.  If MI Senate Republicans throw away their principles when there is such an opportunity for push-back, there will be little reason to bother with them later.

Not a threat.  Just reporting the truth.

Hey guess what?  The filing deadline for Michigan candidates to appear on the August 07, 2012 ballot, is May 15, 2012.

We want conservatives to consider becoming candidates for Michigan state representative in their districts.  We call it the $100 project, because its as easy as laying out 100 skins to make a difference and drive the discussion about conservative values. Anyone 21 and older who is registered to vote can participate.

For less than the cost of a month's worth of cappuccino, YOU TOO can file as a candidate for the office of Michigan State Representative for your district!  See the world! See Lansing!  Make new friends!  All for a single Benjamin!:

Seriously. The prerequisite lobotomy is waived this year for the $100 project.
