    Welcome to Scoop!

To help you figure things out, there is a Scoop Admin Guide which can hopefully answer most of your questions.

    Some tips:

    • Most of the layout is changed in "Blocks", found in the admin tools menu
    • Features can be turned on and off, and configured, in "Site Controls" in the admin tools menu
    • Stories have an "edit" link right beside the "Full Story" link on an index page, and right beside the "Post a Comment" link on the full story page. They can also be edited by clicking the story title in the "Story List" admin tool
    • Boxes are what allow you to write new features for Scoop; they require a knowledge of the perl programming language to work with effectively, although you can often make small changes without knowing much perl. If you would like a feature added but cannot program it yourself, ScoopHost does custom Scoop programming as one of its services.
    • If you aren't sure where to look for a particular feature or piece of display, try the "Search Admin Tools" link in the admin tools menu.

Scoping out the "other side" online to see their take on Yesterday's election. I was amazed by the sadly lacking, to practical non-coverage, given the outcome of Walker's win.

Even more amazing, is how Francis here actually tries to make this look good for Pres. B.O.

    Francis, I pity you.

    I really, really, really do.

Given that caliber of reporting, the fact that NBCUniversal even gives you a paycheck...

Geoffrey Rubbing Elbows With Obama And Denise Ilitch

TV commercials for Fieger's Southfield firm have kept him in Metro Detroiters' minds even when he's been otherwise out of the spotlight.

But one former partner, Vernon "Ven" Johnson, said he had enough of Fieger's "irrational, intimidating and aggressive behavior" and formally resigned from the firm by email May 13, 2011.

Johnson alleged professional misconduct, violation of state business law and other behavior caused him to quit his association with the controversial Fieger.

"The combination of intolerable behavior, broken promises and false representations, the mistreatment of clients, ethically questionable edicts, the loss of experienced trial attorneys, the failure to provide corporate books, records and accounts, as well as other actions ... resulted in a deterioration of the business and compelled (my) resignation," Johnson wrote in the complaint.

C'mon Vern .. birds of a feather, dude.

A123 in April received a two-year extension on its deadline to spend a $249.1 million grant from the federal government, originally received in 2009. The money was to be used for the construction of new lithium-ion battery manufacturing facilities in Michigan. A123's Livonia plant opened in 2010, and its Romulus plant opened last year. The company had $120 million left of the $249.1 million grant.

The hiring announcement comes after the company has hit financial problems. In March, A123 said it would spend about $55 million to replace defective battery packs in five battery packages that were assembled at its plant in Livonia.

In addition, financial losses have accelerated. In its 2011 earnings, A123's loss grew 69 percent to $257.7 million from the year earlier. And in April the company reported a first-quarter loss of $125 million -- a 133 percent increase from the  $53.6 million loss during the same quarter in 2011.

But dammit, when it's a taxpayer funded hole you just put 400 new hands on the shovel to keep on digging.

    Obama Keeps His Energy Promise

Editor's note: Notice the year.  The new EPA rules will be causing the Marquette facility to go offline to be a part of the problem.  They have three years before the rates 'necessarily skyrocket'. - JGillman

    via The Lonely Conservative

President Obama's anti-coal policies are about to hit millions of Americans in the wallet. Get ready for the great, big Obama-bump in your electric bill.

Last week the U.S. Energy Information Administration reported a shocking drop in power sector coal consumption in the first quarter of 2012. Coal-fired power plants are now generating just 36 percent of U.S. electricity, versus 44.6 percent just one year ago.

It's the result of an unprecedented regulatory assault on coal that will leave us all much poorer.

Last week PJM Interconnection, the company that operates the electric grid for 13 states (Delaware, Illinois, Indiana, Kentucky, Maryland, Michigan, New Jersey, North Carolina, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Tennessee,  Virginia, West Virginia and the District of Columbia) held its 2015 capacity auction. These are the first real, market prices that take Obama's most recent anti-coal regulations into account, and they prove that he is keeping his 2008 campaign promise to make electricity prices "necessarily skyrocket."

The market-clearing price for new 2015 capacity - almost all natural gas - was $136 per megawatt. That's eight times higher than the price for 2012, which was just $16 per megawatt. In the mid-Atlantic area covering New Jersey, Delaware, Pennsylvania, and DC the new price is $167 per megawatt. For the northern Ohio territory served by FirstEnergy, the price is a shocking $357 per megawatt.
