  • Your New Scoop Site

    Welcome to Scoop!

To help you figure things out, there is a Scoop Admin Guide which can hopefully answer most of your questions.

    Some tips:

    • Most of the layout is changed in "Blocks", found in the admin tools menu
    • Features can be turned on and off, and configured, in "Site Controls" in the admin tools menu
    • Stories have an "edit" link right beside the "Full Story" link on an index page, and right beside the "Post a Comment" link on the full story page. They can also be edited by clicking the story title in the "Story List" admin tool
    • Boxes are what allow you to write new features for Scoop; they require a knowledge of the perl programming language to work with effectively, although you can often make small changes without knowing much perl. If you would like a feature added but cannot program it yourself, ScoopHost does custom Scoop programming as one of its services.
    • If you aren't sure where to look for a particular feature or piece of display, try the "Search Admin Tools" link in the admin tools menu.

    Tough Break, Fluke'rs

    Obamacare mandate blocked.

Michigan Attorney General Bill Schuette today announced that a federal judge has issued a ruling blocking the implementation of a controversial U.S. Health and Human Services (HHS) mandate that would force religious employers to violate their religious and faith-based beliefs by providing insurance plans that cover services, including abortion-inducing drugs, that conflict with those beliefs.

The ruling comes in a lawsuit filed by Michigan-based Weingartz Supply Company and Legatus, an organization of Catholic business owners, to defend religious liberty and challenge the unconstitutional Obama administration mandate.  Schuette filed an amicus brief in support of the plaintiffs on September 27, 2012.

"Religious liberty is America's first freedom," said Schuette.  "Any rule, regulation or law that forces American employers to violate their free exercise of religion is a flat-out violation of the First Amendment and federal law, including the Religious Freedom Restoration Act.

"This victory is an important step in defeating an unconstitutional mandate that will force private sector job-providers across America to violate their conscience.  The First Amendment applies to everyone, and we must defend religious liberty for all, not just the chosen few dictated by the federal government."

    Rest

In other words, keep your vagina out of my wallet.

I reckon that being truthful plays all kinds of hell on an Executive who pushed through the DIA Tax on his county, and on a Governerd swirling tax dollars down the drain on excess, and extravagance while the bodies pile, and anarchy descends.

    via The Detroit News

The Michigan Republican Party on Tuesday pulled a cable TV ad that bashes Detroit while touting Oakland County's GOP.

County Executive L. Brooks Patterson saw the 34-second ad and asked state GOP Chairman Bobby Schostak on Tuesday to pull it, saying it was unnecessarily negative.

Patterson, who is undergoing rehabilitation for injuries suffered in a car crash, received a resounding no, spokesman Bill Mullan said.

"I've always run political campaigns built on positive messages. My campaign has asked the independent entity that produced this ad to take it down, but they've refused," Patterson said in a statement on Tuesday. "Detroit has its challenges. But my administration has always tried to be part of the solution."

And, folks still try to tell me that there is a Two Party system.  Again .. Shut up, Brooks.  Your 73-year-old duplicitous tongue needs to head out to pasture, and tell tales of how you remember your legend to your grandchildren.  Everything has a built in obsolescence, Brooks - you, like this dangerous fossil, have finally met yours.

    That is fact.

Noticed an interesting post discussing our infrastructure, and communications over at Hall of Record

Huawei, a global Chinese telecommunications equipment manufacturer already doing limited business in the U.S., poses a threat to national and corporate security say members of the U.S. House Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence. Those congressmen speak to Steve Kroft for a 60 Minutes investigation to be broadcast Sunday, Oct. 7 at 7:30 p.m. ET and 7:00 p.m. PT.

The world's largest maker of telecommunications equipment has been under investigation for the past year by the committee, which will issue its report on the Chinese company on Monday. The committee's chair, Rep. Mike Rogers (R-Mich.), tells Kroft, "If I were an American company today...and you are looking at Huawei, I would find another vendor if you care about your intellectual property, if you care about your consumers' privacy, and you care about the national security of the United States of America."

    More

No kidding, Mike.  Good thing the Canadians had Snyder file a Buy American waiver on their DRIC, too.

Sure poses a quagmire for the MI-GOP loyalists, and the ChiCom loving Governerd, doesn't it?

Conservative principles crumbling under pressure?  Potentially, just a heartbeat away.

Must be what the RNC is shooting for as its slogan this election.

Is this campaign meme intended to keep folks at home in November?

"Take that Relentless Positive Action, and uh, bring it to Washington, DC"

Oy!  Pete and John, wise up .. ditch the I ♥ Nerd schtick.  A lone 2010 primary 36% win infiltrated by Schwarz Democrats does not necessarily make one a Senator in 2012.

Seriously, wtf are you two thinking?

Anybody that didn't see this coming are willfully burying their head in the sand, or just gullible dupes eating up the spoon-fed disinformation from bought off propaganda whores.

The Bridge changed from a bridge owned by Michigan to a Canadian owned bridge! A Canadian Crossing Authority will own the bridge now, even the half in Michigan.

    Video.  More.

Birds of a Nationalizing feather, Gov. Ricky Snydholm.  Romney will love this.

    Left-To-Work .. in Indiana

Part III in the series, via Inside Indiana Business

PORTAGE, Ind. - Governor Mitch Daniels joined executives from Fronius USA, LLC, the fourth-largest solar inverter producer in the world, today to announce that the company will relocate its North American headquarters here from Michigan, creating up to 512 new jobs by 2016.

The Austrian company will invest more than $26.64 million to lease and equip 400,000 square-feet of space in Portage to assemble and manufacture its products for the North American market. Through this new facility, Fronius plans to develop its current manufacturing capacities to meet the global demand for solar electronic inverters and welding technology.

"We're excited to bring new jobs anywhere in Indiana, but we're particularly excited Fronius has chosen northwest Indiana," said Daniels. "Fronius is well-established, fast-growing and at the top of their field, exactly the kind of company we've rebuilt the Indiana business climate to attract."

Fronius' relocation marks the 1,000th new business establishment or expansion the Indiana Economic Development Corporation, the state's lead economic development agency, has completed since its inception in 2005.

Established in Brighton, Mich. in 2002, the family-owned, international company has been engaged in solar electronics since 1992, in particular the development and production of photovoltaic inverters for both grid-connected and independent power supplies.

"Indiana has a great business climate with a perfect infrastructure for us, including a good network of suppliers and skilled employees," said Wolfgang Niedrist, managing director for U.S. sales at Fronius. "We can't wait to get to know the people of Indiana even better as we move into the community."
    ....

Fronius' establishment in Indiana comes on the heels of two recent announcements from companies also relocating to Indiana from Michigan. Earlier this month, Spartan Motors, Inc. announced its plans to relocate  parts of its operations to Wakarusa from Michigan, creating up to 60 jobs by the second half of 2012. In May, Molded Foam, LLC announced its acquisition of a Michigan firm and intentions to relocate operations to Indiana, creating up to 45 jobs in Elkhart County by 2014.

    Rest here

So it goes... Michigan continues to hemorrhage its Private Sector Job Creators flowing into Right-To-Work Indiana.  That really should make one question the motive behind Gov Snydholm going "all in" with bypassing the Legislature on his relentless Non-Agreement Agreement campaign for his quasi-government DRIC agenda.

Have fun in China this fall, Central Planning Nerd.

Unfortunately, CATO pulled its punches on ObamneyCare much like have the goofy edge-nibbling Health Care Compact proponents.  The right way of addressing Federally administered RomneyCare for all?
