  • Your New Scoop Site

    Welcome to Scoop!

To help you figure things out, there is a Scoop Admin Guide which can hopefully answer most of your questions.

    Some tips:

    • Most of the layout is changed in "Blocks", found in the admin tools menu
    • Features can be turned on and off, and configured, in "Site Controls" in the admin tools menu
    • Stories have an "edit" link right beside the "Full Story" link on an index page, and right beside the "Post a Comment" link on the full story page. They can also be edited by clicking the story title in the "Story List" admin tool
    • Boxes are what allow you to write new features for Scoop; they require a knowledge of the perl programming language to work with effectively, although you can often make small changes without knowing much perl. If you would like a feature added but cannot program it yourself, ScoopHost does custom Scoop programming as one of its services.
    • If you aren't sure where to look for a particular feature or piece of display, try the "Search Admin Tools" link in the admin tools menu.

    Something A `Republican' Michigan Governor Won't Do

Expanding on the theme of "If you are going to take time to craft a holiday message, at least have the decency to recognize why."

Unafraid to use their official positions to recognize that the holidays exist for a reason, the following state executives stepped up and named them. Typically accessed from their government pages, and some referenced from social media, here are some more non PC greetings sure to offend the freaks of progressivism.

Alaska's governor Sean Parnell has traditionally had a Christmas Video out.  The newest expected anytime now.

Titled "Seasons Greetings," Indiana governor Mike Pence uses "Christmas" no fewer than 6 times in three full paragraphs.  Add a "Blessing" or two, and we Definitely get the message!

Florida's Rick Scott posts a "Christmas" message celebrating ".. a time to celebrate the blessings that are bestowed upon us and the birth of our Lord."

My Goodness, Wyoming's SOS has "Merry Christmas" and a story to go with it right up on the state's website. The Governor, Matt Mead even posts an audio "Merry Christmas."

Maine Governor Paul LePage also posts an audio "Christmas" message for Mainers

While Michigan gets a stale store bought pizza generic "happy Holidays", the lucky folks in Arizona get the Buddy's Pizza of Yore, Real Deal.

A 'holiday' message sent from Jan Brewer to Arizonans:

    "Merry Christmas!

When I first became Governor, I issued an Executive Order that encourages the celebration of Christmas and Hanukkah and prohibits any censorship of these religious holidays. I encourage you to read the Executive Order here.

As you may know, elected officials throughout our country have attempted to strip both Christmas and Hanukkah of their meaning. Some officials even prohibited government employees from placing religious items of celebration at their desks, renamed Christmas trees as "holiday" trees, and renamed Menorahs as "candlesticks."

As Governor, I call things what they are...a Christmas Tree and a Menorah... and will gladly allow both Christmas and Hanukkah to be celebrated at the State Capitol. I encourage my colleagues and fellow elected officials to do the same.

Again, Merry Christmas to you and your family!

May God bless you, your home, the State of Arizona and the United States of America.

    Sincerely,

    Jan

P.S.  If you'd like, leave me a Christmas greeting on my Facebook.

    Yup.

    Now THAT is leadership.

And how appropriate is that "Rosie the riveter" pose for this Michigan blog post?
