  • Your New Scoop Site

    Welcome to Scoop!

To help you figure things out, there is a Scoop Admin Guide which can hopefully answer most of your questions.

    Some tips:

    • Most of the layout is changed in "Blocks", found in the admin tools menu
    • Features can be turned on and off, and configured, in "Site Controls" in the admin tools menu
    • Stories have an "edit" link right beside the "Full Story" link on an index page, and right beside the "Post a Comment" link on the full story page. They can also be edited by clicking the story title in the "Story List" admin tool
    • Boxes are what allow you to write new features for Scoop; they require a knowledge of the perl programming language to work with effectively, although you can often make small changes without knowing much perl. If you would like a feature added but cannot program it yourself, ScoopHost does custom Scoop programming as one of its services.
    • If you aren't sure where to look for a particular feature or piece of display, try the "Search Admin Tools" link in the admin tools menu.

A 64% increase of children living poverty under the Granholm tax and spend era.

Unemployment has taken a toll on children in Michigan, with 36 percent living in families in which neither parent has a full-time, year-round job, according to a report out today.

Michigan has more children living without a working parent than 46 other states, according to the 22nd annual Kids Count Data Book by the Annie E. Casey Foundation.

Alaska tied Michigan, and only Kentucky at 38 percent and Mississippi at 39 percent had more kids in households that lack secure parental employment in 2009.

Yep, all the while overcompensated public sector union slugs gather in their yellow shirts and ready themselves to strike.  Amazing.

Way to go team 'too divisive'.

Democrat Granholms' Thieving Department of Human Services

Maura Corrigan sure is a refreshing change from the Michigan Democratic wealth redistribution Party.

A state audit released Tuesday identifies a lack of financial controls and millions of dollars in questionable purchases in the state welfare department, including state employees using taxpayer funds to sell welfare clients cars the employees purchased and the bulk purchase of gift cards in large denominations.

Due to a failure to separate accounting duties for purchases in the Department of Human Services, the same state employees in many cases created invoices, processed invoices, and then approved the checks to pay the invoices, said the report by Michigan Auditor General Thomas McTavish.

Also, the department reimbursed state welfare employees for the purchase of personal computers and other electronic items without documenting the items were ever provided to state welfare clients, or in some cases, ever purchased in the first place, the audit said.

Now, Maura, re-interview all of 'em signing up to be on the dole and drug screen them too...
