  • Your New Scoop Site

    Welcome to Scoop!

To help you figure things out, there is a Scoop Admin Guide which can hopefully answer most of your questions.

    Some tips:

    • Most of the layout is changed in "Blocks", found in the admin tools menu
    • Features can be turned on and off, and configured, in "Site Controls" in the admin tools menu
    • Stories have an "edit" link right beside the "Full Story" link on an index page, and right beside the "Post a Comment" link on the full story page. They can also be edited by clicking the story title in the "Story List" admin tool
    • Boxes are what allow you to write new features for Scoop; they require a knowledge of the perl programming language to work with effectively, although you can often make small changes without knowing much perl. If you would like a feature added but cannot program it yourself, ScoopHost does custom Scoop programming as one of its services.
    • If you aren't sure where to look for a particular feature or piece of display, try the "Search Admin Tools" link in the admin tools menu.

    Robert Ficano Just Fired Me

Just kidding... I don't have a contract with Wayne County either.

The first casualty of Wayne County's severance scandal was already off the payroll when Executive Robert Ficano "terminated" him, documents obtained by the Detroit News show.

Ficano announced on Oct. 14 that he was firing former personnel director Tim Taylor for his role in a $200,000 severance to Turkia Mullin, the county's ex-economic development director.

But Taylor's employment agreement as a consultant making $56.28 an hour expired the day before, according to his personnel file that The Detroit News obtained through the Freedom of Information Act.

That makes Ficano's claims of punishing those responsible "disingenuous," said Commissioner Laura Cox, R-Livonia.

"That's baloney. It's ridiculous to terminate somebody whose contract had expired," Cox said. "It's misleading taxpayers to say he is taking action, when he is taking no action."

Laura, is the AG offering ya any help?

Amazing.  House Oversight, Reform, and Ethics Committee Chair, Rep. Tom McMillin, is told to go fly a kite, and AG Schuette remains in hiding.

By the way Charlie, that Byblos Banquet Center on Chase Road that's listed on your Ficano PAC printout... check and see how many tabs were picked up for Jumana Jedeh parties by boytoy Ficano.  Bet you a shawarma that you'll find another musloid connection.

    Bauer Pled To Five Felonies

    Just noticed this from yesterday.

Jason Bauer, the former Oakland County Democratic Party operative who was busted for his role in last summer's failed attempt to qualify a slate of tea party candidates for the Michigan ballot, pleaded no contest this morning to five felonies related to the scheme.

Bauer, 31, of Waterford entered the plea of nolo contendere (which is not an admission of guilt but is treated as a conviction under Michigan law) to all of the charges for his role in what became known as "the fake tea party," an elaborate effort to siphon votes away from Republicans in the 2010 election by running a slate of candidates under the tea party banner.

Yannow, this Ficano coverup scheme is just getting too nauseating to watch anymore.

Members of a Wayne County economic development nonprofit that gave Turkia Mullin a $75,000 bonus last year voted this week to ban similar payouts.

The board members of Edge Opportunities, also known as the Wayne County Business Development Corp., met on Monday and made the move, according to a press release from its new chairman, Jeffrey Collins, the incoming deputy county executive.

Collins was elected the new chairman Monday and Ray Byers, the incoming county economic development chief, was elected the new executive director. County Executive Robert Ficano brought the two on staff two weeks ago after announcing the departure of Deputy County Executive Azzam Elder.

Too late Wayne County, the cat's already out of the bag.
