  • Your New Scoop Site

    Welcome to Scoop!

To help you figure things out, there is a Scoop Admin Guide which can hopefully answer most of your questions.

    Some tips:

    • Most of the layout is changed in "Blocks", found in the admin tools menu
    • Features can be turned on and off, and configured, in "Site Controls" in the admin tools menu
    • Stories have an "edit" link right beside the "Full Story" link on an index page, and right beside the "Post a Comment" link on the full story page. They can also be edited by clicking the story title in the "Story List" admin tool
    • Boxes are what allow you to write new features for Scoop; they require a knowledge of the perl programming language to work with effectively, although you can often make small changes without knowing much perl. If you would like a feature added but cannot program it yourself, ScoopHost does custom Scoop programming as one of its services.
    • If you aren't sure where to look for a particular feature or piece of display, try the "Search Admin Tools" link in the admin tools menu.

With republicans like these, who needs democrats? (Episode II - The Wrath of "-r")

Another republican tax hike is in the works. Yeah, I know. What a shocker.

Why is it that you never hear Robert Schostak or Reince Priebus come right out and say this? Aren't they ever proud of these actions of the elected members from their own party?

But bear with me on this one, because this time, the cast of characters is different.

    How so you might ask?

    Two Benishek Ads Now Airing

The 1st Congressional District campaign is starting to warm up.  Though the numbers say the Democrats might eek out a win, there are indicators that say otherwise.  One of those is the reduced spending by the Democrat party and low donation numbers to McDowell's campaign.

There are still ads airing by the Michigan Democrat party, but even those were based on buys done earlier.  Expect them to NOT increase.  Conversely, the Benishek Campaign is in full swing.

Readers might find Benishek's pledge to serve only 3 terms appealing as well.

Below the fold are two newly produced ads for Dan Benishek.   Spread them around.

    -- UPDATE: --- 2:12

    According to the NRCC numbers:

"Michigan's 1st District seat, vacated by retiring Rep. Bart Stupak (D), has also been a target for both parties, as both the NRCC and DCCC have aired ads there. The NRCC survey, conducted by Hill Research Consultants Sept. 19-21, found Republican Dan Benishek leading Democrat Gary McDowell 40% to 24% among 400 likely voters. In this Upper Peninsula district, Obama is viewed unfavorably by 56% in the survey."

Not your Mother's Social Security Health Care System anymore

I often wonder how many Americans have read the writings of our founding fathers, I sometimes even wonder if all of my Right Wing Brother and Sisters have: to be fair if there is someone out there who has not: a resource could be The Federalist Papers by Alexander Hamilton, James Madison and John Jay [ISBN 0-553-21340-7].
I sometimes wonder if we actively think about who America is. A nation of immigrants, a melting pot, of course, most nations are, look to Europe: this tribe or that clan, fairly homogenized over centuries while retaining some unique aspects. South America, where Spanish is the dominant lingual influence, is a melting pot. Africa where tribes have moved from nation to nation, even Arabia, where tribes and clans have moved from area to area, is a melting pot. The planet Earth is a melting pot.
