Another day in Michigan and another round of wretched headlines for Democrats locally.  Which is good and bad.  With folks like the Hip Hop Mayor down in the D all of the negative coverage comes back and bites us all in the backside.  But when you've got Democrats tripping over themselves to batter eachother like we continue to see in the Presidential Primary race?  Well that's just plain a beautiful thing.  It's one thing when a member of the opposing party levels a charge but when one of your own people comes with both guns blazing?  Look out.

And after a couple days of detente the Democrats are back at each other's throats again this morning.  The Detroit News reports that Hillary Clinton's campaign is still interested in getting something done in the way of a re-vote here in Michigan.  Nevermind that the House won't be back in session in time to actually do what needs to be done legislatively, she's got her people talking caucus, mail in vote and heaven knows what other sort of pseudo-quasi-anti-American options she's cooked up this week.

The woman makes one stop into the State in the last 300 some odd days and she thinks she's going to get covered as some sort of champion of the oppressed?  Not going to happen but thanks for trying.  Because all of that effort just gives the Obama camp the opportunity to unload and that always requires a response which leads to more charges and on and on they go.  Weeeeeeee!

Obama spokesman Robert Gibbs repeated the campaign's call for negotiations, saying that revote proposals in Michigan and Florida were fraught with legal and logistical questions.

"Unlike the Clinton campaign, which seems far more interested in scoring political points about this than it does in a solution, we want to find a solution to seat the delegates from each of these states," Gibbs said. "A good place to start would be to split evenly the delegates from each of those states."

The Clinton camp argues that it's Obama who is obstructing a solution by failing to agree to new votes in Michigan and Florida.

"Senator Obama has turned 'The Audacity of Hope' into the audacity of `nope,'" Singer told reporters in a sarcastic reference to Obama's 2006 best-selling book.

And there's your quote of the day.  A high ranking Democrat discussing Obama's handling of Michigan voters referring to it as the "audacity of nope."  Love it.  Except for the part where it's actually true.  Here's a novel idea for the Obama camp.  Senator, the woman's not going to catch you.  JUST SEAT OUR DELEGATES!  I know, I know, Howard Dean won't let you.  Something tells me, though, that after you get this thing officially wrapped up he'll be willing to go along with whatever you want to do.

And I guarantee the Clinton camp would be willing to make a statement saying she'd seat the delegates as they were elected.  The DNC isn't going to stand up against both of you.  Barack, YOU, sir, are the problem right now.  Stop being a part of the problem.  It's not like your Michigan supporters need the extra headaches.

They've got more than they can handle in the form of your would-be super delegate Detroit Mayor Kwame Kilpatrick.

    Read on...

Things just keep getting worse for Hizzoner.  This morning the Ivory Tower released a NEW text message that seems to prove the man perjured himself about more than just his sexual relationship with his former chief of staff.

We must answer the question? Why was Gary Brown fired," Kilpatrick wrote. "It will be asked, I need short, powerful answer. ... I just need a good answer whatever it might be..."

On the witness stand last August, Kilpatrick insisted the decision to fire Brown was his alone. He testified that he wrestled with the decision. He said he even waited a day before determining on Friday, May 9, 2003, that Brown had to go.

Under cross-examination by city lawyer Valerie Colbert-Osamuede, Kilpatrick provided a very specific reason for removing Brown, who headed the police internal affairs unit.

"My intent was to move him out of the ...professional accountability bureau and find a more professional person who understood that. That had grew up in that process and get that person in there," the mayor testified. "It was a tough decision. These decisions are always tough."

Geez Louise, you know?  How many more of these startling revelations are we going to see between now and the trial?  Look, I'm a conservative and I like watching the face of Michigan's Democrat Party get beat senseless as much as the next guy but at some point it just gets to be too much.  Not that he doesn't deserve everything he's going to get... I just don't want the entire State to have to suffer the indignity of having our most prominent Mayor tarred and feathered in court while holding public office.

So will someone do me a favor?  Shake the man.  Someone.  Please.  Maybe his mom can do it... he's a big guy and a lot of other folks might be intimidated.  But someone just plain needs to shake him.

And then, if that works, maybe you could take a trip to Lansing to shake Jennifer Granholm and John Cherry too.  The Associated Press reports that they didn't get their way on higher education spending and even the Democrats in the Senate voted against the administration.

Each school would get 3 percent more in state aid next year than it's getting now.

Democratic Gov. Jennifer Granholm wants to base the increase on factors such as how much research is done and how many students graduate. That formula would give some schools more than 6 percent more and others just over 2 percent more.

It passed the university spending bill 37-1 and sent it to the Democratic-led House, which will start working on university funding next month.

Wouldn't it be interesting to see the Governor attempt to play favorites that way with K-12 spending?  Give a big boost to her favorite school districts while trying to screw around with the funding for others?  I have a sneaking suspicion that that wouldn't fly.  Might have something to do with the fact that even her tax-hiking Dem Senate Minority voted against her on this one.

Although they did manage to increase spending.  Again.  Interesting to see what we're spending less on next year to make those books balance.  Because remember... no more tax hikes.  You promised.  At least until lame duck.

Bonior's Junket Paid by Saddam Hussein (none / 0) (#2)

Well, well, well...it looks like in today's Detroit News there is an article about former Congressman David Bonior of Mt. Clemens, Michigan traveling to Iraq in 2002 prior to the Iraq War.  Normally, traveling to Iraq would be no big deal except that Congressman Bonior's trip was paid for by the one and only Saddam Hussein.

Victor, bonior's antics are nothing new. (none / 0) (#3)

Why it was not more than a few years ago when komrade bonior was caught in a little campaign donation flap with one Mr. abdurahman alamoudi.

It seems that Mr. alamoudi has a bit of a big mouth when it comes to the loves of his life.

The first being his financially support of a certain philosophically-whacked (now) former US Representative.

The second being his support for another group of philosophically-whacked individuals: the terrorist group hezbollah.

History lesson for those of you too young to remember: hezbollah was the same group that took responsibility for the murder of 239 U.S. Marines in 1983.

This is why members of Congress should be paying for their own junkets.  If David "Comrade" Bonior had been compelled to pay for his trip to Iraq, he probably would have thought twice and decided it was not worth his time and money to give aid and comfort to an enemy country and a dictator who was aspiring to outdo Adolf Hitler.  Instead, Comrade Bonior travels to Iraq free of charge compliments of Saddam Hussein's intelligence service.

Another cheapskate who comes to mind is Sander "Trotsky" Levin who not only travels free of charge compliments of lobbyists but also has the gall to make them pay for his wife to tag along.  It's not like these Congressmen are poor.  They each make more than $160,000 in reported income (unreported income is another story), receive the best benefits in the world, and a full pension after just a few years in Congress.
