    The Michigan Axis of Evil

Many of you who read my weekly RightMichigan.com columns on a regular basis know that I am no fan of state Rep. Alma "the Wheeler Dealer" Smith (D-54th District) and her daughter-in-law, state Rep. Rebekah Warren (D-53rd District).  Both of these state law-makers are zealous advocates for the murder of innocent, unborn children.  See: http://www.rightmichigan.com/story/2008/3/27/2557/25856 & http://www.rightmichigan.com/story/2008/2/14/018/40755

But what about the "man" who links these two liberal loons together?  Well, he is none other than Washtenaw County Commissioner Conan Smith, who is currently serving his second two-year term.  Comm. Smith is equally as vile as his mommy and wife when it comes to his position on abortion "rights."

Indeed, in the past, I have referred to Rep. Wheeler Smith, then-Michigan Abortion Rights Action League (MARAL Pro-Choice Michigan) Executive Director Warren, and Comm. Smith as composing a pro-abortion Michigan Axis of Evil.

After Warren joined the Legislature in 2007, Tara Smith - Alma Wheeler Smith's daughter - replaced Warren as MARAL Pro-Choice Michigan's executive director, which now makes Tara Smith the latest member of the Michigan Axis of Evil.

Thus, MARAL Pro-Choice Michigan, the state's largest pro-abortion political action group, which has been responsible for numerous frivolous lawsuits attempting to overturn abortion restrictions here in Michigan, has been squarely under the control of Alma Wheeler Smith and her family for most of this decade.

    Read on. . .

Since their elections in 2004 to the state House of Representatives and the Washtenaw County Commission, respectively, Wheeler Smith and her son Conan have been widely regarded as the chief advocates for abortion on demand in the State Legislature and the Washtenaw County government.

Although Warren is a novice and has been largely unsuccessful in doing much legislatively over the past year, her mother-in-law is a politically ambitious kook who still fantasizes about becoming governor, which makes Alma Wheeler Smith dangerous.

Now, there's probably a better chance that Hillary Clinton will leave Bill and marry Obama after all three join a polygamist cult somewhere in the desert southwest than there is that Alma will ever be elected Governor of Michigan.  But the real reason that Ms. Wheeler Dealer is so dangerous is that she has been grooming Conan Smith since boyhood to take-up her wicked obsession with peddling abortion on demand.

In fact, I dare to say that Conan Smith is a real-life "Manchurian Candidate." Similar to the 2004 re-make of this classic film, Conan Smith is nothing less than a patsy of his overly politically ambitious mother. He is likewise controlled by a "corporation" of wealthy pro-abort donors and activists who want nothing more than to continue the exploitation of mostly minority and working-class women for financial and political profit.

To begin with, Alma "married off" her son to one of her drooling, wild-eyed pro-abortion worshippers, Rebekah Warren.  This ensures that Conan will live, breathe, and constantly consume the radical abortion rights mantra for the foreseeable future.  Conan and Rebekah also owe not only their marriage to Alma's doing, but even the very home they live in - the downtown Ann Arbor mansion that Alma's parents purchased in 1945.

Moreover, Conan Smith owes his whole political and professional career to his mother's famous name.  Conan began his post-collegiate career as a "communications specialist" for the Michigan House Democratic Caucus.  He then was given a job with the Michigan Environmental Council, which is headed by none other than Lana Pollack.  Ms. Pollack is a former state senator from the Ann Arbor area to whom Alma Wheeler Smith served as a legislative aid during the late 1980s and early 1990s.  Ms. Wheeler Dealer eventually succeeded her boss and served as a state senator from 1995 until 2003, when she was term-limited out.

And, is it a co-incidence that, like his mother who served as a Washtenaw County Commissioner from 1993-1994, the first political office that Conan was elected to was a Washtenaw County Commissionership?  I think not.

Since leaving the Michigan Environmental Council in 2004, Conan has moved on to bigger and better things thanks, again, to his mother's connections.  Now serving as the Executive Director of the Michigan Suburbs Alliance, Conan routinely makes news in the Detroit-metro media - all in an effort to raise his profile outside of Washtenaw County.

In sum, Alma Wheeler Smith has been plotting the political rise of her son, Conan Smith, since he was a boy.  As Alma grows greyer, and as her own delusional quest for higher political office eventually comes to an end, the epicenter of the Michigan Axis of Evil will become Conan Smith.

Indeed, when Roe v Wade falls, and the fight for a pro-life post-Roe Michigan begins, Conan Smith will be the political leader pro-abortion forces will flock to in their mad quest to keep the slaughter of unborn Michigan children legal - much to Rep. Alma Wheeler Smith's wicked delight.

...what's with all these clans that seem to hold power in these parts? One or some other, is often mentioned.  I'm sure these clans purport a helpful agenda. I can't fathom why the electorate goes along when the dismal results are obvious to...the world.
