Barack Obama: Wrong on Abortion & Wrong for Michigan

The so-called charismatic political leader of our age, Illinois Senator, and the all-but-certain 2008 Democratic presidential nominee, Barack Obama finally came to Michigan this week trolling for general election votes after ignoring our state - and its people - for most of his primary campaign due to political expediency.

The narrative of why Senator Obama chose not to campaign here in Michigan for such a long time is (very) well-worn and I will not rehash the details here.

But in the same way that Obama has chosen to ignore Michigan (and Florida, of course) for purposes of political expediency so, too, he has chosen to ignore the cries of the unborn for political gain.

Yet, unlike Obama's half-hearted attempt to pay attention to Michigan now that he can afford politically to do so, he will never lift a finger to help the unborn because the reality is, in today's radically pro-abortion Democratic Party, he has nothing to gain from it - and everything to lose.

As Obama made his way around Michigan, the radical National Abortion Rights Action League, or NARAL "Pro-Choice America" as the group fancies itself these days, announced that Obama had finally received its "coveted" endorsement.  See: http://ap.google.com/article/ALeqM5jvzT8keHzVS3YjP8BJDDrf64A_AwD90LL7JO1

This should come as no surprise since Obama is as radically pro-abortion as politicians come (charismatic or not).

Despite his loud declaration of being a Christian who is in tune with Gospel values, Obama's public record on abortion is beyond dismal - he is, in fact, every pro-abortion activist's dream candidate.

For example, Michigan's leading pro-abortion clan, otherwise known as the "Michigan Axis of Evil" and headed by state Rep. Alma "the Wheeler-Dealer" Smith (D-54th District), is firmly in Obama's camp.

    Read on. . .

Veteran Michigan political journalist, and insider, Tim Skubick reported recently on his "Skoop's Blog" that Rep. Alma Wheeler Smith had been "inclined to endorse Hillary Clinton but at the urging of her son went for Obama instead."  See: http://skoopsblog.blogspot.com/2008/04/wright-is-wrong-for-obama.html (As a side note, I found it somewhat amusing that Skubick referred to Alma as a "state senator" even though she's been a state representative for over three years now and has not been a member of the state Senate since 2002).

Well, I have a scoop for you right here on RightMichigan.com - Rep. Wheeler Smith was most likely fibbing.  Anyone who knows anything about Alma knows that her only son, Democratic Washtenaw County Commissioner Conan Smith, serves as her lap-dog.  See: http://www.rightmichigan.com/story/2008/4/10/11622/8643

Alma would never take political advice from her son.  Rather, I hypothesize that 1) Alma used her son (once again) for political cover with some of her radical feminist supporters who are (literally) attracted to Hillary Clinton and 2) at the same time she tried to make her son Conan appear to Skubick to be more politically astute than he really is.  After all, as I have written previously, "As Alma grows greyer, and as her own delusional quest for higher political office eventually comes to an end, the epicenter of the Michigan Axis of Evil will become Conan Smith."

But getting back to Obama, with proven in-state pro-abortion zealots like Rep. Wheeler Smith and her son "endorsing" him, as well as with NARAL Pro-Choice America backing him, one knows that Obama will be a faithful puppet of the pro-abortion movement, if elected President of these United States come November.

This means that Obama will pack the U.S. Supreme Court with as many pro-abortion activist judges as he can, which will ensure that the 1973 Supreme Court decision legalizing abortion throughout the nation - Roe v. Wade - will be enshrined for another generation.  That, in turn, will guarantee that Michigan's pre-Roe ban on abortions will not be restored - and tens of thousands of Michigan's unborn children will continue to die at the hands of greedy, ruthless abortionists.

Over the years, various polls have shown that the Michigan electorate leans strongly pro-life on abortion.

This November, for the first time in 20 years, it is time that Michigan's pick in the presidential election reflect that aforementioned reality.
