Restraint and moving in groups (none / 0) (#3)

Over at Malkin's site, one of the commentators gave me props for showing restraint.

Yes, I could have "smashed his face" in all sorts of a quick order. I could have even just smacked his arm away. Taking care of this jackass really wouldn't have been much of an issue.

However, part of my "one weekend a month" gig isn't just being able throw down immense amounts of hurt - it also includes being situationaly aware.

We were significantly outnumbered by a group that probably had more guys like this that were willing to get violent - and in relatively close proximity. I could scrap my way out of a confrontation with one, or maybe two more who decided to jump into the mix (I did have a knife with me), but I have a feeling it wouldn't be limited to that.

The only ways I really would have felt comfortable to put this douchebag in his place is if either:

    1. I was with a larger group, or

    2. I had the G23 with me, in order to deter any mobs that might decide to "have their brotha's back".

Of course there are potential issues with those as well - with groups, what's the size? You can still get significantly outnumbered.

As for the firearms option, that will most likely be a quick way to get an attorney bill - even though I most likely would not get charged with anything.

In fact, the above is why having a second camera is more than a good idea. If shit hits the fan and I have to throw or even draw down, there would be evidence showing that it was a legitimate use of force. Besides, the one camera might get damaged during the course of the altercation.

Just my two cents as the one attacked.

That said, I am considering talking to an attorney and seeing what the chance might be to get this asshat tracked down. I wouldn't mind emptying his bank account.
