I know I will get slammed for this, and (none / 0) (#5)

in a pure sense, it curdles my conservative blood to acknowledge that Ford took the incentives that you indicated. But, Ford Motor Company is a corporation that is responsible to its bottom line and to its shareholders. Those shareholders are institutional investors and individual investors that risk their own money betting that the company will prosper and thus pay them a dividend, or at least in Ford's case currently raise the price of a share. There is a lot more investor dollars in the mix than Federal dollars, and I agree, there should be no Federal dollars.

Ford, under the leadership of Alan Mulally, looked across the table at those braying UAW owned jackassess in the senate, decided that it would not submit to Maobama and the UAW and pushed away from that table. A whole hell of a lot less taxpayer dollars went into Ford's efforts than went into bailing out the UAW and the once and future disaster that is GM.

The argument could go on forever, and agreement would be hard to come by, but Ford and other well run US corporations do whatever it takes to enhance the corporate bottom line and reward the sharholders. It would be in a lot worse shape had it fallen under the sway of the Marxists in the current regime and a whole lot of people would have gotten hurt to add to the number who got hurt at GM and Chrysler--bond holders, independently held dealerships, employees perhaps.

In case nobody has noticed, shades of green are showing up on every frigging product produced in the US. It's all a game in most instances to keep the government trash off the corporation's backs. Green regulations, green czars, green morons named Jenny can make a corporate day that much harder. Perhaps taking the green incentives helps keep the marxists at bay so the company can continue to improve its business, employ more people, and pay more dividends?

I know it will be important to flame away. You will be right, it's either black or it is white. It is also what it is.
