Who are the NERD fund donors Mr Snyder?

    Raise the curtain.

Cox and Bouchard/Land tried to buy the straw poll, only they failed

I've been following the recent conversation here about the straw poll on Mackinac Island I'm not sure I understand how people can be upset about Rick Snyder bringing volunteers to the island.  I'm a MSU Republican who heard from several campaigns that were trying to recruit me to come to the island and offered to pay for my lodging and other expenses in exchange for voting for them.  A friend of mine sent me exactly what Cox's campaign was going to pay for which you can clearly see here.  I also picked up this letter from Secretary of State Terri Lynn Land asking for contributions to a fund that was paying for volunteers to go up to the island.  I'm sure that voting for Bouchard was a part of their requirements.  So it's clear that Rick wasn't the only candidate paying for volunteers to attend.

And as to the video, the person who was interviewed actually did an interview with Michigan Public Radio Network that explained exactly why he was supporting Rick - because of his background in business - on the island and he posted this response.

By the way, It'll be interesting to see if Right Michigan moves something that shows Cox and Bouchard were trying to buy the poll too to the front page or if they're only trying to go after Rick's campaign.  From my perspective, Rick's campaign did nothing differently than the other campaigns other than recruit more supporters and run a more effective operation.

Read these materials from the other campaigns, and decide for yourself if the pots are calling the kettle black.

Rick met his objective, but the video is CYA (none / 0) (#1)
by Republican Michigander on Tue Sep 29, 2009 at 05:59:02 PM EST
Rick Snyder met his objective. I'm not going to fault that. In fact, I'm not offended by it. He got his folks there and paid the $75 or $100 for all of they could vote. I didn't see that extra step as much from other campaigns. Good for Rick. It counts for a little momentum, and he had zip zilch zero before that.

Many other campaigns, from what I saw, didn't pay the $75/$100 for straw poll voting. They had their people do other things for the candidate. Look for the credentials.

I'm pretty certain that most of Cox and Bouchard/Land's paid people didn't have credentials.

As far as the video goes, it sure looked like a CYA effort to me. I wasn't there when "2 guys named Joe" (I never heard of them) filmed that, but edited or not, that was a blunder. "I don't know much about him?" was followed up with the reading of a press release. I know political speak when I see it.

Regardless of my opinion of Snyder who happens to be my last choice, anyone who represents a candidate should know quite a bit about him (or her) and be able to defend him at any time, ambush or not.

Snyder kicked people off Island for not voting (none / 0) (#3)
by michiganperspective on Tue Sep 29, 2009 at 06:29:35 PM EST
Cox and Land always bring volunteers up to Mackinac and Conventions.   Rick Snyder made people sign an affidavit that if they didn't vote for Rick Snyder they would be kicked out of their hotel room and off ferries.   It was outright thuggery.

They stamped hands.  They made them sign their vote.  There were rumors of exchange of votes for cash were aplenty.

There is no comparing Cox and Land's forces with Snyder's.  Cox and Land have been doing this as a thank you to grassroots.  Snyder is doing this to buy a nomination.   There is a difference.

The Links To Cox and Land Documents Don't Work (none / 0) (#5)

So here's other links that should work, for Cox, and for Land.
