    You Really Messed Up McCotter

While we enjoy a primary like no other, at least you could have gotten yourself on the ballot properly.

Damn shame to throw away such a remarkable career, and then like chasing your last dollar bill over the rails of a bridge you take the leap. An Angel named Clarence isn't going to help as all the world becomes a little different Thad.

    So much for dignity.

Its an amazing thing how someone can get so smug that he allows the simplest part of his campaign to slip out from under him.  Signatures.  A thousand legitimate freaking signatures.  And then to say "the buck stops here", yet pretend that he is too loved to accept the situation as it is. In "You clean up your own mess" McCotter says:

"Having promised people I would seek another term in the United States Congress and, thereby, give them the chance to vote for or against me, the only way to clean up my mess is to run a write-in campaign for the Republican nomination for Michigan's 11th Congressional District.

    This I'm doing."

Is that how he cleans up a mess?

Folks, it ain't spilt TEA here.  That pot is brewing and hot, and quite full yet.  Its the drunk on power embarrassment factor on full display.  Grapes all over the floor, stains and all.

    More below the fold. ~

Typical of the permanent political class types, cleaning up a mess merely means sweeping or squeegeeing it somewhere else for someone else to deal with it. And it will be a mess. The type that usually weakens the bond between those who are just starting to feel comfortable with the party, and the party which has yet to realize the strength of those they would dismiss as watered down TEA.

Already we've seen the ignorance on display from Thad's morale supporters:

" .. "It's definitely a cataclysmic event in politics for an incumbent congressman to not file sufficient signatures to get on the ballot," said Bill Runco, chairman of the Wayne County GOP. McCotter's 11th District includes parts of Wayne and Oakland counties. "... I've never heard of it."

    ...

"Just because he (Bentivolio) caught lightning in the bottle, doesn't mean he's some constitutional scholar overnight and he's earned this ability to be the Republican nominee," said Rocky Raczkowski, a former Oakland County congressional candidate who said he won't launch a write-in campaign for the 11th District seat. ..  "

There IS a candidate, right?  And Rocky, when did you become such a Jerk?

Its not hard to see MR Raczkowski lined up monitoring his political establishment cred already.

In fact, MR Raczkowski was-Outside-the-political-elite-favored-circles a couple of years ago. We (tea types) supported him HEARTILY. I wonder what ever made him think HE earned it?  Not that I would say he hadn't but, MR Bentivolio got HIS signatures this time, and the incumbent did not. And We should still be looking for a reminder of what Raczkowski brought to the table in his failed bid, that this legitimate candidate does not?

    Right.

Last time I checked, Bentivolio earned a place in the running. And the fact his opponent has forgotten the basics, perhaps it is his opponent who has not truly earned the right to be the candidate.  A good friend recently commented:

"After dumping on the people who he has relied on for years to circulate his petition (misplaced trust!), Rep. McCotter has decided to try to damage to the one candidate that did his due diligence by getting the required signatures. McCotter should play the statesman and support Kerry Bentivolio. Kerry's military and professional record gives the district the experience, knowledge and discipline needed to represent the voters of the 11th District. The need is for a grass roots champion, not a self-serving career politician."
    what he said.

In fact, Rocky should be celebrating a brother in arms being involved, and as successful already.

"Catching lightning in a bottle" to be sure!  One might have a hard time doing so by staying indoors.

Should we be so impressed with recent performances by Thaddeus McCotter? The disconnect of one who has been so removed, so that he forgets how to collect the necessary signatures legitimately has shown itself in other ways; through debt increases; cash for clunkers; stimulus, twice (after declaring it just means more taxes)?

Has he forgotten who he is?

What happened after that twitter post Sept 2011 "

"Stimulus: The Summer Rerun": more taxes, spending, deficits & debt = Bigger Government & failed politics of the past.
Presidential aspirations crushed only a few days later and seeking sympathy:
"My Soc Sec bill is "the greatest reduction of govt spending & debt in history" but I'm barred from the Tea Party debate? ‪"
    well.  Its about reality.

Thaddeus needs to do a reality check.

In reality, sure, he has operated pretty well with the Republican caucus.  But along with much of that, he has forgotten the basics.  One part, is that taxpayer money ought not be taken by government like some confidence scheme, and distributed among the power brokers and influence peddlers. No legitimate excuse can be made for the robbery from our children's future to salve the fears of failure of business too large to fail. Taking from one suffering sector to ease the suffering of another simply moves the problem and exacerbates it through the filter of inefficient government.

Another part, is that taking things for granted, can have a disastrous consequence.

And perhaps that last part is something we can all put in the bank.

...on Charlie Langton's Show yesterday (part 1) & (part 2) spewing the same milquetoast, non-committal drivel about running, a candidate's "turn" for running ,and I felt, the situation as a whole.

August really isn't THAT far off. Do your business or get off the pot!

OABTW, in case anyone is interested, he had Kerry Bentivolio on afterwards. That clip can be heard here.

I almost forgot to add this. (none / 0) (#2)

that these entrenched politicians ARE what is wrong in our government.  If McCotter cannot even get the required signatures to put himself on the ballot just what in the hell is he doing on the job in DC?  If he cannot even run a campaign he has no damn business even being a representative of the people.  Run em all out of DC!!!

    McCotter Ends Write-In Campaign

U.S. Rep.'s Sole Focus Is Finishing His Term and Aiding His Requested Attorney General Probe

    June 2, 2012

"I have ended my write-in campaign in Michigan's 11th Congressional District," announced McCotter.

"One can't clean up a mess multitasking. Honoring my promise to the sovereign people of our community only allows me to finish the official duties of my present Congressional term; and aid the State Attorney General criminal investigation that I requested into identifying the person or persons who concocted the fraudulent petitions that have cost me so dearly.

"Honoring this promise does not allow me to continue a political write-in campaign. This decision is final, regardless of how swiftly the investigation is concluded."

"To those who unhappy at this news, I'm sorry; to those happy at this news, you're welcome," McCotter concluded.
