Who are the NERD fund donors Mr Snyder?

    Raise the curtain.

Don't Let The Billionaire Have His Way

    Says the rich guy.

Michigan Governor Rick Snyder did a series of videos regarding the ballot initiatives we will see in November.  Opining on issues one through six, Snyder makes a number of reasonable points, and its worth going through them to see where you might agree. Or not. The last proposal discussed is the DRIC, where he (the text says) says:

"If there's one proposal we've heard a lot about, it's Proposal Six.

On the surface, the issue is about the New International Trade Crossing - the new bridge to Canada. But if you dig deeper, you'll see that Proposal Six would have even more far-reaching consequences.

While the proposal is intended to protect one company's monopoly on truck crossings between Detroit and Canada, it was sloppily written and jeopardizes ANY bridge under construction today that won't be completed by January 1, 2012, or any bridge built thereafter."

It didn't have to be this way.

More and the video below the fold.

Of course if the governor hadn't pushed his effort beyond that which the legislature was willing to pursue, it never would have happened.  It (the initiative) was Rick Snyder's creation all along.  The obsession with his bridge is frankly pretty creepy, and along with the move to squash FOIA of his communications with other entities, one would have to be a moron to trust him on this. It should be noted that his VETO of transparency was in the face of an absolute unanimous legislative request.
"We need the new bridge to Canada - and modern infrastructure - if we want to reinvent Michigan and bring more and better jobs to our state."
Actually, if it is to service the importation of Chinese made, Canadian assembled products? (read: Automobiles)OK.  Reinventing 'need'. So lets assume that the current 45% of peak traffic is an indicator we need a new bridge.  We have existing ramps, and infrastructure in place to service a second bridge span at the Moroun site already. Why does it have to be elsewhere? Eminent domain will be used on our side to destroy the existing neighborhoods to build the new service ramps, so why not let the Canadians deal with it on THEIR side?
"Thanks to an iron-clad agreement, we can build a new bridge to Canada without any cost to Michigan taxpayers. The project will help industries all across our state grow stronger which would lead to important long term job creation. In the short term, it will help create 10,000 new construction jobs.
Chinese and Canadian jobs.  Just saying.

Anyhow, cost is over 40 million already.  Add to this a new infrastructure re-route, land acquisition, planning, and the loss of a Michigan business in the process.  'Free' has become quite expensive.

"The new bridge will be a great benefit for our state, and we shouldn't let one billionaire and his special interest monopoly get in the way."
That was, by far, the funniest line. The governerd, using class warfare to rally support for his obsession.

That 'billionaire' special interest is an employer of Michiganders.  Don't you think for a minute that he has anything but a potential parking lot after a new Canadian owned and operated international crossing is built.  When the first vehicle passes over and pays the toll, the roadblocks go up.  One can only wonder WHY our chief executive would purposefully destroy a Michigan based company and put so many out of work?

Its almost as if Snyder has a grudge to settle.

If there is one name that gifts Michigan... (none / 0) (#1)

...to Obama, and Stabenow, it is: Rick Snyder.

While the entire world is watching China manipulate its currency, divest it's American debt, openly ditch the Reserve Note to trade with the Yuan, further hoard REM for it's energy future, the Nerd (nice tie for the ChiComs, a-hole. Return to being a pig for us in Michigan) is busy setting up groveling Discera-ish welcoming centers in conjunction with Billy Jr and his ChiCom Mustang transmission shipments through the Halifax Port for that damn non-agreement agreement NAFTA Bridge, which OBTW, is seeking waivers from the Buy American Act.  Gee, tough luck goonion turds... watch the ChiComs bump you to the wayside 'cause the DRIC is in the Canadians control.  ROR

Like it or not, the wheels are coming off the Nerdmobile: check The Dashboard.  Do you see this 9.4% mentioned anywhere?  Nope.  But, Michigan's unemployment has been rising since May.

Nine states reported statistically significant over-the-month unemployment rate changes in August, of which seven were increases and two were decreases. The significant increases occurred in Connecticut (+0.5 percentage point), Michigan (+0.4 point), New Hampshire and Vermont (+0.3 point each), and Iowa, Massachusetts, and Pennsylvania (+0.2 point each). Hawaii and Utah registered the only significant declines over the month (-0.2 percentage point each).

The more important point is that since Snydholm has taken his Oath of Office in 2011, Michigan's labor force has contracted by 16,000+.  Fact.

And, I don't even want to get started on this part of Snydholm's steaming pile:

Additional agreements were reached, including the University of Michigan and China FAW Group Corp. signing a Strategic Framework and Master Research Agreement to enter into a five-year research relationship. It will provide opportunities for increased educational engagement at the university and increased FAW Group operations in the state of Michigan.

Niiiiice.  Our tax dollars, along with only God knows what else, is being funneled into the ChiComs pockets through Moscow on the Huron.  When it gets down to it... The Nerd isn't all that much different than Clinton when it comes to exposure with China.

    One Term Nerd.

...opposition to Prop 5, and the tired argument that we couldn't have gotten rid of the MBT if this was in place at that time (FLAT OUT LIE repeatedly told by Prop 5 opponents!).

Hmmmmm, sounds like a good topic to write about?
