  • Your New Scoop Site

    Welcome to Scoop!

To help you figure things out, there is a Scoop Admin Guide which can hopefully answer most of your questions.

    Some tips:

    • Most of the layout is changed in "Blocks", found in the admin tools menu
    • Features can be turned on and off, and configured, in "Site Controls" in the admin tools menu
    • Stories have an "edit" link right beside the "Full Story" link on an index page, and right beside the "Post a Comment" link on the full story page. They can also be edited by clicking the story title in the "Story List" admin tool
    • Boxes are what allow you to write new features for Scoop; they require a knowledge of the perl programming language to work with effectively, although you can often make small changes without knowing much perl. If you would like a feature added but cannot program it yourself, ScoopHost does custom Scoop programming as one of its services.
    • If you aren't sure where to look for a particular feature or piece of display, try the "Search Admin Tools" link in the admin tools menu.

Snyder Calling for Obama benGhazi's Help?

    Seriously, No Joke.

Gov. Rick Snyder will call in federal reinforcements to help convince a recalcitrant Republican-majority Legislature to accept money to expand Medicaid.

After a speech Friday closing out the Detroit Regional Chamber's annual Mackinac Policy Conference, Snyder said he has talked with U.S. Health and Human Services Secretary Kathleen Sebelius to determine the best way to get the expansion passed in Michigan, and setting a time for someone with HHS to come to the state to talk with lawmakers.

Republicans, wary of anything associated with President Barack Obama's Affordable Care Act, have not included the federal dollars for the expansion in the 2013-14 budget. The bill in Lansing would put four-year limits on the benefits.

    REST

Exactly how many "skunk work" projects does the Governerd have, Rich?  TEA folk, if being the target of the IRS isn't enough to rally a display of Gadsden's, then this fifth column Progressive Nerd within the state Republican Party bringing in the most corrupt White House our nation has ever seen to browbeat our representative voice in the legislature had best activate your presence in Lansing, post haste!  Stand with them - they stopped the Nerd.

Bobby Schostak, your silence with Snyder's Obamacare entanglement demands is appalling.  You're a complete disgrace as Party Chair.

    Un-fu@%ingbelievable.

Though not 'Michigan centric', this is far too important to not have on the front page of every blog. - JG

"This week marks the 40th anniversary of the Watergate hearings.  For those of you too young to remember, back then the administration had an enemies list.  They were spying on reporters, and they used the IRS to harass groups they didn't like.  Thank God those days are gone forever."  (Jay Leno, circa last week)

Jay Leno may yet accomplish with President Obama what Johnny Carson did with President Nixon, in that JWC turned RMN into a national laughingstock, and thus greased the skids for Tricky Dick's premature exit from the White House.  We can only hope that JDL can accomplish the same with BHO before February 2014 rolls around.

Four scandals, count them, four.  Benghazi, the IRS's thuggish behavior, the DOJ wiretapping the AP, and the EPA's selective fee waivers.  Those are just the ones that are currently "front-page news."  There're plenty of others from the earlier years of this Administration (Operation Fast & Furious comes to mind), and there are likely others not yet brought to light.  Solomon had it absolutely right when he said that there is nothing new under the sun.

The more I hear or read about what's going on, the more I find myself in agreement with Speaker Boehner:  I'm not interested in who's losing their job over this; I want to know who's going to jail over this.

A Message To Our Legislators - Beware False Choices

    The Stupidity of Kathleen Sebelius

It may seem like old news, but let's begin by asking one question. How did your mother teach you to sneeze? Cup your hand over your mouth and nose (with a tissue, if possible) and sneeze into it. As any three year old might ask... why? I'm sure she said it's because you want to keep your germs to yourself and not make someone else sick by spreading germs around the house or in public. It's because something may come spraying out of your nose also. Sneezes are unpredictable in these ways, and a cupped hand is really the best way to contain them in a pinch. "Eww!", you might say. All that in my hand? But hands are very durable things, and the dirty little secret is, you can wash them. This technique has lasted for centuries, passed down by oral tradition one undiseased generation to the next.

The Anatomy of a Sneeze is some 40,000 droplets of germ-laden spittle and mucous travelling at 100 mph a distance of some 32 ft., sometimes repetatively. (Ooooo, how scarey!) Containing this little sickness-bomb is exactly why a proper technique must be used to protect the health of others. But manner and etiquette has always been handled by parents to children. Then, suddenly, upon the election of Barak Hussein Obama, and the appointment of uber-Progressive Kathleen Sebelius, all of this changed as if it had always been this way. Between charts in school and public service announcements (propaganda) by no less than Elmo of Sesame Street, the public was instructed to sneeze into the crook of their arms, essentially on their sleeves. Didn't our mothers teach us NOT to wipe our noses on our sleeves?
