Who are the NERD fund donors Mr Snyder?

    Raise the curtain.

    Fluff

The futile exercise of responsible governance in today's America requires no further example than Detroit.

Detroit, the once beautiful jewel of Michigan, tortured with decades of progressivism, Cronyism, and corruption, just cannot stop failing.  Somehow, in the midst of a bankruptcy, preceded by the spending of 15 or so billion dollars as yet unearned, and the jail sentences of ONLY a few of the officials responsible, the city still must do stupid things, like build water play fountains it cannot afford.

    Or make work.  From Fox2:

"They served up free ice cold bottled water and delicious grilled hot dogs. The T-shirts looked good reading "Palmer Park Splash Park" and the ribbon cutting went well. Just one little glitch at the new park, there was no water! A water main break dried up the splash park for its grand opening!

"We had a mishap with a water main that broke," explained Detroit Mayor Dave Bing. "We have a water system that's 100 years old so those things happen."

So maybe, just maybe, the money spent on the splash park could have been spent towards that 100 year old water system first?

    Continued below the fold.

    There is a message here.

Breaking out the personal mean ol conservative stationary, perhaps I write:

    Dear Detroit,
You are broke.  You cannot afford water parks.  You cannot afford to run them.  And when the fire trucks were called in to spray water all over a bunch of kids because of a water main break, shouldn't that tell you something? Aside from those professionals getting a little OT, and making it "Fun":
"It's didn't quite go as planned," said Alex Williams who brought his daughter. "The fire department stepped up and it's made it fun for everyone."
maybe the kids should enjoy it anyhow.

The reality is that they will likely face disappointments in their lives that have beginnings in such wonderful fluffy dalliances as flowering water features.

Thanks for continuing to set such wonderful examples of fiscal prudence for the generation that was born with an unmanageable credit card debt as its dowry.

    Sincerely, me.

    Yeah.  That's it.

And, light rail. Can't forget light rail... (none / 0) (#1)

Just remember that Lou Costello looking broad from Royal Joke is ALL IN light rail boondoggles for the graft monies (Naturally, the self-invented Nerd persona picks up where Dimocrats leave off with light rail and a boondoggle DRIC bridge).

    Yes, the DRIC is DOA.

Hey, it could be worse. (none / 0) (#2)

How would you like to be a cop on the street at 3 in the morning and find out that you have no radio?

That all cars need to be dispatched and check in via your own personal cell phone.

It's only the second time in about a month that this has happened.

I mean, this is Detroit we're talking about.

    What can happen?
